I just purchased Super Meat Boy on Steam today for $3.74.  It normally costs $14.99, but there's a daily deal going on today.  (The deal only lasts for approximately 13 more hours.  Buy the game now if you're going to.)  You play as the character Meat Boy; he's a cube of meat that has a face and limbs.  An evil character named Dr. Fetus kidnaps Bandage Girl and it's your job to get her back.  The controls are simple and fluid.  You use the arrow keys to move around, shift to sprint, and spacebar to jump.  It's a platforming game so you'll be avoiding obstacles while working your way to the end of each level.  It's pretty difficult at times, but it's a lot of fun.  It's very rewarding when you finally get past something that was giving you trouble.  The artwork is great, the music is great, everything about this game is lovable.  I highly recommend it to anyone that likes platforming games.  I really think that there should be more games like this one.

This is a neat little game that I received from the Steam Holiday Sale/Event.  I got it for free, but you could buy it on sale today for just $1.24.  This game is 2D and bird's-eye view.  There are various maps that you can play on.  Each map will have a different number of red runways, yellow runways, or helicopter pads.  Planes will fly onto the map and you're supposed to click and drag to make a path for them to fly on.  You want to guide the planes to the right runway.  (Red planes will go to the red runway, yellow to yellow, helicopters to the helicopter pads.)  It's game over if any of the planes crash into each other.  It starts to get really intense and difficult after a while.  It's fun though.  You should check it out if you have Steam and a dollar to spare.

I've been playing Cave Story+ every day since I received it as a gift for Christmas.  I've finished the game on easy difficulty with the normal ending and on original difficulty with the good ending (defeating Ballos).  There's still so much for me to do in this game.  I need to finish it on hard difficulty, finish it with the two other endings I haven't seen yet, play the game as Curly, do the challenges, and unlock the rest of the achievements.  This game has been consuming my life.  I love it.  Again, if you haven't played this game then you should really look more into it.

My good friend Colin gifted me Cave Story+ last night for Christmas.  I've played it for about five hours so far and I have to say that I'm really in love with this game.  I'm nearing the end of my first play through, but I'm definitely going to be playing through it multiple times.  Everything about this game is great; the art, music, story, gameplay, etc.  It plays similar to Metroid and Castlevania.  If you like those games then I recommend checking out Cave Story+ on Steam.  It'll be $6.69 until January 2nd.  After that date it will go back up to its original price of $9.99.

Edit:  It's probably actually smarter to purchase the Humble Indie Bundle 4.  Just make sure you pay more than the average amount that everyone else pays to receive Cave Story+ with it. The average price of the bundle should actually be cheaper than the price of Cave Story+ by itself.  (Thanks for the information, R.gers.)

Steam has been having a holiday event going on since December 19th.  Every day there are objectives for users to complete.  Most of these involve unlocking certain achievements within various games, but some of them are different --  there's one objective that has you complete a Steam trade with another person.  You receive a gift every time you complete an objective; a game, a coupon, or a piece of coal.  You're entered into the grand prize drawing once per piece of coal in your inventory.  The grand prize is every Steam game.  Alternatively, you can turn seven pieces of coal into another gift.

This event has been awesome for me so far.  I've received:
  • 3x Coal
  • 1x -25% Valve coupon
  • 1x -50% S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat coupon
  • 1x -60% Magicka coupon
  • Flight Control HD
  • Divinity II - The Dragon Knight Saga

I'll be receiving even more gifts in the future since the event is going on until December 31st.  I'm kind of thinking that they'll give us something extra on Christmas too, but I'm not sure about that.

Get in on this event if you haven't already, and HAPPY HOLIDAYS to everyone out there.

Alright, I quickly put together a banner and tweaked some of the other design settings for the blog.  The layout you see right now is the finished product;  I think it looks decent.  I may end up spending a little more time in the future to make things look better though.

I've been keeping myself entertained for the past few days by watching a Super Mario 64 stream on TwitchTV.  Siglemic has been streaming a speed run marathon since the 16th of December.  He's aiming to beat the world record time for a 120 star completion.
